NIA arrests two more accused in Himachal IED blast case

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday said that it has arrested two more accused in connection with the improvised explosive device (IED) explosion that occurred on January 1 near the outer wall adjoining the room of the investigating officer within the premises of the Nalagarh police station in Himachal Pradesh.

The case was originally registered at Nalagarh following the IED explosion. The investigation was subsequently taken over by the NIA and the case was re-registered by the agency on May 8 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The investigation revealed the involvement of two suspects, Harman Harry and Jashan Saini. The NIA has arrested both individuals in connection with the conspiracy behind the IED explosion. The arrests aim to unravel the wider network connected with the attack, the agency said.


With the arrest of Harry and Saini, the total number of accused arrested by the NIA in the case has increased to eight, according to the agency. Earlier, the NIA had arrested six accused persons in the case - Mahavir Kuma, Ajay Mehra, Manpreet Singh, Arshdeep Singh Kandola, Karanpreet Singh and Diljot Singh Saini. They had initially been arrested by the Punjab Police.
