Modi hails Cabinet decisions on PM-Kisan extension, Khelo India expansion, key flagship schemes

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday hailed the Union Cabinet's decision to extend the PM-KISAN scheme for another five years till 2030-31 with an outlay of over Rs 3.15 lakh crore, saying it will help farmers meet their needs related to seeds, fertilisers, and farming while improving their economic condition.

Modi also welcomed the Cabinet's approval of the expanded Khelo India Scheme and the enhanced budget for Assistance to the National Sports Federations (ANSFs), with a combined outlay of Rs 36,441 crore over the next five years.

"We are committed to the empowerment and prosperity of our farmer brothers and sisters across the country. In this direction, today approval has been given to extend the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme until 2030-31. This will not only help farmers meet their needs related to seeds, fertilisers, and farming, but also improve their economic condition," he said in a post on X in Hindi.


On the expansion of the Khelo India Scheme, the prime minister said the government is fully committed to promoting sports culture in the country.

"In line with this, approval has been granted for the expansion of the Khelo India scheme, along with an increase in assistance provided to national sports federations. This will provide young athletes across the country with better training, modern facilities, and more opportunities to hone their talents," he said.

On the Cabinet's approval of 'Samudra Manthan', the National Offshore Exploration Scheme, with an outlay of Rs 84,084 crore for implementation up to fiscal 2030-31, Modi described it as a transformative leap towards strengthening India's energy security and unlocking our vast offshore potential.

"By combining investment, cutting-edge technology, skilled human capital and modern infrastructure, Samudra Manthan will give fresh momentum to 'Make in India' and Aatmanirbhar Bharat," he said.

The prime minister also hailed the Cabinet's approval of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana (PM-SSY) for development of floating solar photovoltaic projects with energy storage systems with a total outlay of Rs 5,070 crore.

"The Cabinet's approval of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana expands India's clean-energy capacity through the innovative use of our reservoirs and inland water bodies. The scheme will benefit every State and Union Territory and reduce CO2 emissions," he said.
