Jharkhand govt holds third round of talks with students; CM announces 'Samvad' platform

New Delhi: The Jharkhand government continued to hold talks with the protesting students for the third day in a row.

Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar urged the protesting students to have faith in CM Hemant Soren. While addressing the Jharkhand Tribal Festival in Ranchi, Gangwar said, "I urge everyone to trust whatever the CM has said. We do not want to play with the future of our children. Resolve this by talking it out. The CM is very concerned about this and is continuously discussing with us how to resolve the children's problems." Soren, who was also present on the stage, said dialogue can resolve all issues between students and the government. Soren later announced a platform called Samvad and invited students, citizens and others to use this platform to recommend ways to bring out education reforms.

On Sunday, a group of ministers, led by state minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu, met groups of protesting students for the third time and offered solutions to their demands. "On instructions of CM, the government has decided to address the irregularities associated with 14th JPSC and 2023-25 backlog recruitments through a two-pronged approach. Criminal aspects will be investigated by CID. Since there are irregularities too, we will request ED to investigate it. Subsequently, a fast-track court will be constituted, and charge sheets against the accused will be filed within 90 days," Sonu said after talks with the students. Later, student leader Ravindra Paswan said that although the government has agreed to consider cancellation of 14th JPSC exam, JPSC Backlog 2023 and JPSC Backlog 2025 exams, they would continue their agitation till their demand for a CBI inquiry is fulfilled.


Meanwhile, all three members of the JPSC resigned on Sunday amid protests over the alleged irregularities in recruitment tests.

Governor Gangwar accepted the resignation of Ajeeta Bhattacharya, Anima Hansda and Jamal Ahmad, according to a statement issued by the Lok Bhavan.
