At the 36th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation & Coordination on India China Border Affairs, held in New Delhi on Thursday, both sides agreed to continue to use existing diplomatic and military channels - including WMCC, local commander-level meetings and other agreed mechanisms - to resolve outstanding issues and avoid misunderstanding and miscalculation along LAC, said a statement released by the external affairs ministry.

It may be pointed out that in 2014, PLA transgressed LAC during Xi's maiden visit to India as President.
Ahead of Xi's visit, national security advisor Ajit Doval could visit China for the next edition of the special representative mechanism talks. At Thursday's meeting, it was underlined that maintaining peace in the border areas is essential for overall development of relations.
