EAM S Jaishankar will speak at The Economic Times World Leaders Forum on August 22, offering India’s foreign policy perspective amid geopolitical tensions.
Jaishankar's session comes at a time when geopolitical rivalries, trade tensions, technology competition and conflicts across regions are testing the global order. India, meanwhile, is seeking to expand strategic partnerships while protecting its economic, energy and security interests in an increasingly fragmented world.
Jaishankar has been a key voice in articulating India's approach to a multipolar world. His session is expected to shed light on the choices and opportunities before India as it engages major powers, strengthens partnerships across the Indo-Pacific and Global South, and responds to a changing international landscape.
Trade friction & neighbourhood
India is simultaneously contending with trade friction and uncertainty around the US' tariff policy, as well as China's growing influence in the vicinity. The immediate neighbourhood is another demanding test. Political flux in Bangladesh and Nepal, instability in Myanmar and the enduring security challenge from Pakistan require sustained diplomatic attention, while conflicts in West Asia carry implications for India's energy security, diaspora and maritime trade routes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest at The Economic Times World Leaders Forum 2026, to be held at the Taj Palace in New Delhi. More than 40 global speakers will debate the India opportunity in this edition of the WLF. Over 300 leading chief executives from India Inc are expected to attend.
