CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke received BJP join-or-face-consequences threat, claims mother

The mother of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Wednesday alleged that her son received a video threatening him to join the BJP or face consequences for his family, forcing his parents to leave their home and stay with relatives for over two weeks.

Speaking to a Marathi news channel ahead of Dipke's return from New Delhi, his mother Anita Dipke claimed the family spent 16 days at a relative's house in the Konkan region after receiving the alleged threat.

"Abhijeet received threats but initially did not tell us. He only mentioned that he had received a video and asked me not to watch it," she said. "In the clip, he was allegedly warned that if he did not join the BJP, his parents would face severe consequences."

According to Anita Dipke, her son later asked his parents to leave their home as a precaution.

"He told us he was not afraid of such threats himself, but was worried about us because we were not used to such situations. We then moved to our relative's residence in Konkan, where we stayed for 16 days," she said, adding that Dipke was also concerned about his father, who suffers from low blood pressure.

Dipke founded the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a satirical online movement, on May 16 after remarks made during a Supreme Court hearing by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. The campaign later evolved into a nationwide youth-led protest movement that culminated in the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan last week.

Dipke was based in Boston, US, when he launched the online campaign before returning to India to lead protests on the ground.

His father said public life inevitably attracts criticism but added that people should judge events after careful consideration rather than reacting impulsively.
