CBSE Class 12 fresh exams: Board to hold exams for students in 7 West Asian countries whose papers were cancelled; no fee to be charged

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct fresh Class 12 board examinations for eligible students in West Asian countries whose results were prepared under a special assessment scheme after their original examinations were cancelled due to the prevailing war situation.

The board had cancelled Class 12 examinations in seven Middle Eastern countries: Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, covering 40 subjects, including 20 academic papers.

CBSE Class 12 special assessment scheme

CBSE introduced a special assessment scheme on March 27 to prepare the results of students affected by the cancellation of their board examinations.

CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said the results of regular candidates from the affected West Asian countries were declared on May 13 along with Class 12 results for students in India and abroad.

"The CBSE had notified an assessment scheme on March 27 for result preparation of affected candidates. Accordingly, results for all regular candidates from West Asian countries were declared on May 13 along with other Class 12 candidates in India and abroad," Bhardwaj said.

He added that the results of private candidates from these countries were also declared under the same assessment scheme.

CBSE to conduct exams in 40 cancelled subjects

CBSE has now decided to hold examinations for Class 12 candidates whose results were declared under the special assessment scheme.

The fresh examinations will cover all 40 subjects for which the original examinations were cancelled in the seven West Asian countries.

Bhardwaj said candidates will have the option to appear for the subjects of their choice.

"The results of private candidates from these countries were also subsequently declared under the same scheme. The assessment scheme had stated that students dissatisfied with their results may be given an opportunity by conducting examinations in subjects, that could not be held," he added.

Who can appear in CBSE Class 12 fresh exams?

The fresh examination facility will be available to Class 12 candidates from the affected West Asian countries whose results were declared under the special assessment scheme.

Students can choose the subjects in which they wish to appear. However, the result declared after the fresh examination will be treated as final and will replace the earlier performance.

CBSE has not yet announced the examination dates or the detailed date sheet.

CBSE exam forms, fees and centres

Eligible candidates will have to submit their examination forms directly. CBSE said no examination fee will be charged for these fresh examinations.

The examination centres will remain unchanged, providing continuity for students who were originally scheduled to take their board examinations at those centres.

"Candidates may appear in subjects of their choice. The result of this examination shall be final and will replace the earlier performance. Examination date and the date sheet of the examinations will be informed once the forms are filled," Bhardwaj said.

"Examination forms must be submitted directly by eligible candidates. No examination fee shall be charged. Examination centres will remain unchanged. No post-result declaration facilities shall be made available," he added.

CBSE Class 12 result: What students should know

The fresh examination opportunity is specifically for students whose Class 12 results were prepared under the special assessment scheme following the cancellation of examinations in the affected West Asian countries.

Students who opt for the fresh examination will have their new performance considered final, replacing their earlier result for the selected subject or subjects.

CBSE will announce the examination schedule and date sheet after the eligible candidates complete the form submission process.
