Kota stated in X, “Met with a delegation from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), led by Toshiaki Sato, Deputy Director, along with Haruka Maruyama, Senior Director, and Sandeep Kumar Singh, Assistant Director, JETRO New Delhi.
Discussions focused on deepening Japan–Assam economic engagement and creating stronger pathways for Japanese investment and business partnerships in the State”.
He added, “Explored opportunities across semiconductors and electronics manufacturing, compressed biogas, renewable energy including pumped storage, logistics, tea & golf tourism, defence & aerospace, and other emerging sectors.
The successful introduction of Matcha in Assam presents an exciting opportunity to build stronger linkages with Japanese investors and tea companies, leveraging growing global demand for specialty teas while reinforcing Assam’s position as a leader in premium tea. The strong interest of Japanese industries in the North East further opens avenues for investment, technology partnerships and value addition across the tea ecosystem.”
Kota said, “Looking ahead, we are equally excited about another unique initiative—Tea & Teeing. With more than 18 golf courses located within Assam’s tea gardens, we aim to bring these spectacular destinations into the global golf circuit in a phased manner, creating a distinctive blend of tea, tourism and sport.Also discussed the possibility of a State-to-State cooperation agreement with Shizuoka Prefecture, building on similar partnerships with other Indian States, to strengthen institutional linkages and promote collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
