Assam cabinet approves Taj Gateway hotel lease, tax relief for farmers and other key decisions

Guwahati: Assam cabinet has approved the draft Lease Deed proposed to be executed between Assam Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. and Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) for a Taj Gateway Hotel.

The cabinet meeting has streamlined Police Verification for Government service appointees. The Cabinet has approved the requirement of police verification of candidates appointed to Government service with respect to their character, antecedents, nationality and genuineness of the documents produced by them.

The verification shall be completed by Police within 6 months. However, the policy to submit notarized affidavits by candidates will continue to avoid delay.


The Cabinet has granted relaxation to Moran and Matak communities from the ban on fresh Aadhaar enrolment for applicants aged 18 years and above in the state of Assam up to 31st March 2027.
