Haryana gets annual plan size of Rs 6,650 cr for 2008-09
The Planning Commission has approved Rs 6,650 crore as annual plan size for Haryana for 2008-09, which includes a central assistance of Rs 100 crore for the state for specific projects.

NEW DELHI: The Planning Commission on Monday approved Rs 6,650 crore as annual plan size for Haryana for 2008-09, which includes a central assistance of Rs 100 crore for the state for specific projects.
The plan size for Haryana was finalized at a meeting between Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Hooda, however, suggested that tax incentives should be given for industries in parts of Haryana like Aravali, Mewat and Shivalik to make it at par with hill states.
The state was complimented for bringing down fiscal deficit within FRBM targets and transforming into revenue surplus.
The state also received compliments from Ahluwalia on the growth rate and overall performance of the state. In line with the growth rate of 9 per cent the state has shown in the last plan period, he said the Planning Commission has fixed an ambitious target of 11 per cent for the state during the Eleventh Plan (2008-09).
The Centre would also extend its support for the state to make it more investment-friendly through the freight corridor link and the National Highway connectivity to the state, Ahluwalia said. The state has also taken initiatives to improve infrastructure and create an investment-friendly environment, he added.
