Government invites applications for 30 products' import quota under India-Oman trade pact

New Delhi: The government Monday invited applications for the allocation of 2026-27 import quotas for 30 products including dates, marble, and aluminium ingots, under the duty concession provisions of the India-Oman comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA), which came into effect June 1.

Under the CEPA, India has granted quota-based tariff concessions to certain Omani goods such as dates, marble, copper weld wire, aluminium ingots, billets and wires, and certain petrochemical products, such as ethylene glycol, linear alkylbenzenes, and low-density polyethene.

New applications have been invited from August 4-August 19, 2026 for imports under TRQ (Tariff Rate Quota) for FY27 under the pact. Import duty of 30% on dates will remain zero for up to 2,000 tonnes of dates per year, while 40% duty on marble and travertine blocks will fall to 25% for imports priced up to and above $150 per metric tonne, subject to an annual import quota of 1 lakh tonnes.


Under the trade pact, Oman has given zero-duty access on 98.08% of its tariff lines, covering 99.38% of India’s exports to Oman. India’s labour-intensive sectors including gems & jewellery, textiles, leather, footwear, plastics, sports goods, and pharmaceuticals, will receive full tariff elimination.
