Anil could displace Mukesh as richest Indian

The senior Ambani’s personal net worth is currently in the region of Rs 2.15 lakh crore as against the younger Ambani’s 1.83 lakh crore.

MUMBAI: Investment banking sources say close to 98% of those who bid for the Reliance Power IPO which opened at 10 am on Tuesday morning were willing to pay Rs 450 a sharethe upper limit.

If the stock eventually lists on the exchanges at this price, and all other things remain the same, there is a good chance Anil Ambani will finally overtake older brother Mukesh Ambani as the richest Indian.

The senior Ambani’s personal net worth is currently in the region of Rs 2.15 lakh crore as against the younger Ambani’s 1.83 lakh crore.

But at the end of the day, only one question remainswhat explains the euphoria to invest in a company with net profits of Rs 16 lakh?

"I think itis confidence in the India story and a tribute to Dhirubhai Ambani, father of the Indian capital markets," a very relaxed-looking Anil Ambani said.

Sources at the company said that he called it a day at 10:30 pm—as he usually does every night. There is a marathon that’s got to be run. And it’s awfully hard work.
