Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla to meet West Bengal CM Adhikari soon

Kolkata, West Bengal BJP president and Rajya Sabha member Samik Bhattacharya said Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla is likely to meet Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari soon to discuss industrial development and fresh investments in the state.

Bhattacharya, who met Birla here, said he urged the group to expand its business presence and industrial footprint in the state.

"I urged the Aditya Birla Group to expand its business presence and industrial footprint in the state. We had a highly positive meeting. He will meet Adhikari in a day or two," Bhattacharya told reporters on Sunday.

He said the meeting came as the state government was working on a new comprehensive industrial policy aimed at encouraging major businesses and conglomerates to invest in the state.

Bhattacharya said the group had a longstanding association with West Bengal and expressed optimism about fresh investments by the conglomerate.

"The Birla group has a deep emotional attachment to the state, but the decades-old Left unionism made them leave. We are positive about new investment from them," he said.

"I had requested Kumar Mangalam Birla for today's meeting, and it turned out really positive. We are looking forward to the meeting between Birla and the CM. This is the moment of resurgence in industrialisation in the state under the BJP rule," Bhattacharya said.
