Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.98%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Monday.
Shares of Lupin Ltd.(up 4.25 per cent), Ajanta Pharma Ltd.(up 3.71 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 3.45 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences Ltd.(up 3.13 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 3.04 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 2.41 per cent), Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 0.58 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.52 per cent) and Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.16 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.98 per cent up at 21908.1.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 289.16 points at 24328.5, while the BSE Sensex stood up 1005.84 points at 80218.37.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 39 ended in the green, while 11 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, RBL Bank, YES Bank, IDFC First Bank and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Country Condos, Manorama Ind, Paradeep Phosphates, Rajvir Ind and Reliance Naval & Engg hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Ind-Swift Labs, GI Engineering, Eros Media, Varanium Cloud and Gensol Engg hit their fresh 52-week lows.
