Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.24%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.
Shares of Bosch Ltd.(up 3.01 per cent), MRF Ltd.(up 1.99 per cent), Bharat Forge Ltd.(up 1.52 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(up 0.81 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(up 0.78 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 3.25 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(down 1.95 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.51 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(down 0.77 per cent) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 0.77 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.24 per cent down at 22299.05.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 7.46 points at 24335.95, while the BSE Sensex stood up 70.01 points at 80288.38.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, UCO Bank, YES Bank, BEL and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Kilitch Drug, Mazagon Dock Ship, Manorama Ind, United Polyfab Gujar and Panacea Biotec hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while GI Engineering, Gensol Engg, Stampede Cap, Uma Exports and Dish TV India hit their fresh 52-week lows.
