GIFT Nifty (Earlier SGX Nifty) signals a positive start
GIFT Nifty on the NSE IX traded higher by 59.50 points, or 0.23 per cent, at 26,335, signaling that Dalal Street was headed for a positive start on Thursday.
- Tech View: However, the index is still trading in a sideways trend and needs to sustain above its 20-day SMA to confirm strength. The follow-up session will be crucial. Support is placed at 59200, with resistance at 59750, while positional support lies at 59000 levels.
- India VIX: India VIX, which is a measure of the fear in the markets, fell 2.09% to settle at 9.48 levels.
US stocks end lower
Wall Street's major indexes ended lower in the final trading session of 2025, but notched big annual gains after a roller-coaster year dominated by President Donald Trump's tariff uncertainties and a euphoria around AI-focused stocks.

Rupee
The rupee slumped 5 per cent in 2025 as persistent capital outflows from foreign investors, alongside heightened dollar demand from importers, making it one of the worst-performing Asian currencies.
