The official announcement of the Nifty constituent changes is expected in February, with the changes taking effect from March 31. The index provider bases these rebalancing decisions on the average free-float market capitalisation of companies between August 1 of the preceding year and January 31 of the current year.
Based on the average free float market cap, current projections by domestic brokerage firm JM Financial suggest significant flows associated with these potential changes.
The report from JM Financial highlights that Zomato could see inflows of approximately $620 million, involving 226.6 million shares, with an estimated impact of 3.8 days of trading volume.
Meanwhile, Jio Financial Services is projected to attract inflows of around $356 million, involving 109.2 million shares, with an estimated impact of 6.1 days of trading volume.
