Hyundai India Q1 profit misses estimates, drops 35% on disruptions
Hyundai Motor India Thursday missed street estimates to report a 35% decline in consolidated net profit for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026 due to disruptions in production and lower exports due to the crisis in the Middle East.

With production largely recovering in July, and two new vehicles slated for launch in the mainstream market later this fiscal, Hyundai expects sales to accelerate in the remaining part of the year. Hyundai Motor India has earmarked capex of Rs 7,500 crore for new product interventions and for ramping up capacity in FY27.

Net profit in the quarter under review stood at Rs 888.60 crore, as against Rs 1,369 crore in the same period last fiscal. Revenues were down 0.5% to Rs 16,334.6 crore last quarter.

As per Bloomberg estimates, the company was expected to post 19% decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 1,115 crore in Q1FY27.

Tarun Garg, managing director & chief executive officer said, “Q1 FY27 was a challenging quarter affected by multiple headwinds impacting volumes and profitability. With 100% normalization of production, coupled with healthy demand environment and upcoming product pipeline, recovery is likely to gain pace from Q2 onwards across both domestic and export businesses.”

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) dropped 31% to Rs 1,511.7 crore in the period under consideration. Ebitda margin stood at 9.3% last quarter compared to 13.3% in the year-ago period.

“Looking ahead, we remain committed to achieving our stated guidance of 8-10% (YoY) volume growth for both domestic & exports as well as 11-14% EBITDA margin in FY27”, Garg informed.

Shares of Hyundai Motor India closed at Rs 2024.55 apiece, up by 1.63% on BSE.
