REDMI Note 17 5G in India starting at Rs 24,999

Xiaomi India has launched the REDMI Note 17 5G, the latest addition to its Note series, with a focus on battery life. The smartphone packs an 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, the largest ever on a REDMI smartphone, while also offering a 120Hz TrueColour AMOLED display, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor and an extended software support policy. The company says the device is aimed at users looking for long battery life without compromising on display quality or everyday performance.

Commenting on the launch, Sandeep Singh Arora, Chief Business Officer, Xiaomi India, said the REDMI Note 17 addresses one of the biggest concerns among smartphone users—battery anxiety while continuing to offer features such as a premium display, Snapdragon performance and long-term software support.

8,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging

The biggest highlight of the REDMI Note 17 is its 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, which Xiaomi claims can deliver up to three days of typical usage on a single charge while maintaining an 8.4mm profile. The smartphone supports 45W turbo charging, with the charger included in the box, along with 22.5W reverse wired charging for powering compatible accessories and smartphones. Xiaomi also says the battery is TÜV certified to retain 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 charge cycles.

AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate

The REDMI Note 17 features a 6.9-inch TrueColour AMOLED display with a 120Hz AdaptiveSync refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut and up to 1,800 nits peak brightness for improved outdoor visibility. Other display features include HydroTouch 2.0, which improves touch responsiveness with wet or oily fingers, along with TÜV Rheinland Eye Care certifications aimed at reducing eye strain during extended usage. Xiaomi has also included stereo speakers capable of reaching up to 200% volume.

Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 powers the device

Powering the smartphone is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, built on a 4nm process. The device supports up to 16GB RAM, including virtual memory expansion, and offers storage expansion of up to 2TB via microSD card. To help manage temperatures, Xiaomi has included a 10,416mm graphite cooling system, while its Long-Term Fluency Engine is designed to maintain smooth performance over time. The company claims the device is engineered to deliver up to 48 months of lag-free usage.

50MP camera and durable design

For photography, the REDMI Note 17 features a 50MP AI dual rear camera alongside an 8MP front-facing camera. Camera features include Night Mode, AI HDR, Dynamic Shots, AI Editor and 2x in-sensor zoom. Despite housing a large battery, the smartphone retains a relatively slim design and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, a reinforced chassis and HydroTouch 2.0. It will be available in Dark Night, Arctic Blue and Starlight Purple colour options.
