Vanda Devullu OTT release date confirmed: When and where to watch Vijay Antony starrer Telugu social drama

After completing its theatrical run, Vijay Antony's emotional social drama Vanda Devullu is now heading to OTT. The Telugu version of the Tamil film Nooru Saami is set to make its digital debut this week, giving viewers another chance to watch the family drama from home. Directed by Sasi, who reunites with Vijay Antony nearly a decade after the success of Bichagadu (Pichaikkaran), the film revolves around family, motherhood and a woman's right to choose her own future.

Vanda Devullu OTT release date and platform

The makers have confirmed that Vanda Devullu will begin streaming on ZEE5 from August 7, 2026. The film will be available not only in Telugu but also in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and other language options, allowing it to reach a much wider audience after its theatrical release.

The announcement comes after the movie completed its run in cinemas. While it did not perform as expected at the box office, its emotional storyline and performances received appreciation from a section of viewers. The OTT release is now expected to introduce the film to more family audiences.

Story explores a mother's second chance at life

A part of Vanda Devullu is said to be inspired by real-life incidents. The story follows Selvi, a widow who raises her children after losing her husband. Once her children grow up and move away, she decides to remarry and begin a new chapter in her life. Her decision, however, is met with resistance and social judgment.

The film focuses on a mother's love, personal freedom and the courage to rebuild life with dignity. It also highlights the support she receives from her daughter-in-law, who stands by her despite opposition. Another important thread in the story revolves around a son who eventually wants his mother to remarry after earlier opposing the idea, adding an emotional layer to the narrative.

Vijay Antony reunites with director Sasi

Vanda Devullu marks Vijay Antony's second collaboration with director Sasi after the commercially successful Pichaikkaran, which helped the actor build a strong following among Telugu audiences.

The film has been produced under the Vijay Antony Film Corporation banner by Vijay Antony and Fatima Vijay Antony, while some reports also credit Meera Vijay Antony as producer. The cast includes Swasika, Ajay Dhishan, Lijomol Jose (also referred to as Lizzie Antony in some reports), Karunaas, Kavya Anil, Balaji Sakthivel, Aruldoss and others in key roles.

Speaking about the film's OTT premiere, director Sasi said, "I wanted to make a film that talks about free will and the right of women to pursue their desires regardless of their age. I’m really happy for the film’s success in the theatres and that now it will stream on ZEE5, reaching even more people."
