The Tamil crime thriller, which became one of the standout Indian web series on OTT after its debut in 2022, is back with a fresh investigation, a new lead character, and a darker mystery. This time, the story moves away from Kanyakumari and heads to Madurai, where an old political case, hidden secrets and a shocking discovery promise to keep viewers hooked.

Vadhandhi Season 2 will premiere on Prime Video on August 7, 2026. The series will stream simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, making it accessible to audiences across multiple regions.

The upcoming season serves as the follow-up to the hit first instalment, but with a major change in the lead cast. While SJ Suryah headlined the original series, actor Sasikumar now steps into the spotlight as SI Moosa Raaza, a police officer caught in a morally complex investigation.

What is Vadhandhi Season 2 about?

The second season follows SI Moosa Raaza, who believes he has successfully solved a high-profile political cold case after being transferred to the outskirts of Madurai. However, he soon discovers that his investigation may have resulted in an innocent man being sentenced to life in prison.

Determined to correct his mistake, Raaza decides to reopen the case despite mounting pressure. His search for the truth begins with the discovery of mysterious skeletal remains during the inauguration of a development project in Madurai. As he digs deeper, he comes across an elusive prisoner named Mani, setting off a chain of unexpected twists that uncover long-buried secrets.

Unlike the first season, which revolved around the disappearance of a young girl named Velonie in Kanyakumari, the sequel shifts its focus to a politically sensitive investigation with higher personal and professional stakes.

Created, written and directed by Andrew Louis, Vadhandhi Season 2 is produced by Pushkar and Gayathri under their Wallwatcher Films banner.

Apart from Sasikumar, the series features Yashwanth, Anagha Maruthora, Aparna Das, Vivek Prasanna, Revathy Sharma and Arjun Nandhakumar in important roles. Vivek Prasanna is among the returning cast members from the first season, while the sequel introduces several new characters central to the latest mystery.



Speaking about the upcoming season, producers Pushkar and Gayathri said the new installment continues to explore the franchise's signature themes of suspense, truth and perception while presenting a story that is emotionally engaging.

They added that director Andrew Louis has taken the series in a fresh direction without losing the essence that made the original so popular. The duo also praised Sasikumar and the rest of the cast, saying their performances bring added depth and intensity to the narrative.

Released in 2022, for the unversed, Vadhandhi emerged as one of Prime Video's most-watched Tamil original series. Starring SJ Suryah, Laila, Nassar, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy and Vivek Prasanna, the show followed the mysterious disappearance of a young girl named Velonie and the investigation that slowly peeled back layers of rumours, lies and hidden truths.
