Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast salary breakdown

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has opened to a massive response at the global box office and has once again put the spotlight on Tom Holland's journey as Marvel's friendly neighbourhood superhero. While the film is making headlines for its record-breaking collections, many fans are also curious about how much the actors behind the franchise have earned over the years. Although Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have not officially revealed any salary details, several entertainment industry reports have estimated what the lead cast members were paid.

Tom Holland's biggest Spider-Man payday yet

Tom Holland first entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War (2016). Industry reports suggest he earned around USD 250,000 for that appearance before taking on his first solo film.

As per COmic Basics, for Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Holland reportedly received a base salary of USD 500,000, which is believed to have increased to around USD 1.5-2 million after box office bonuses as the film earned more than USD 880 million worldwide.

His reported pay continued to grow with each successful outing. Reports estimate he earned around USD 4 million for Spider-Man: Far From Home and close to USD 10 million for Spider-Man: No Way Home, which went on to collect nearly USD 1.92 billion globally.

Now, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Holland is reportedly taking home between USD 20 million and USD 30 million, making it his biggest Spider-Man paycheck so far. Several industry reports also claim his deal includes 5-8 per cent of the film's first-dollar gross, although these figures have not been officially confirmed.

Zendaya, Mark Ruffalo and the supporting cast

Holland remains the highest-paid actor in the new film by a considerable margin.

According to industry estimates cited by Comic Basics, Zendaya reportedly earned around USD 8 million for reprising her role as MJ. Mark Ruffalo, who returns as Bruce Banner, is said to have received between USD 8 million and USD 12 million.

Meanwhile, Jon Bernthal, making his MCU debut as the Punisher, reportedly earned USD 4-6 million, while Jacob Batalon, returning as Ned Leeds, is estimated to have received USD 1-2 million.

Like Holland's reported earnings, these salary figures have not been officially verified by Marvel Studios or Sony Pictures.

Tobey Maguire still leads in total Spider-Man earnings

While Holland may now command the biggest single-film salary, Tobey Maguire is still believed to have earned the most overall from playing Spider-Man.

As per Just Jared, reports suggest Maguire received USD 4 million for 2002's Spider-Man. Following the film's success, his salary reportedly jumped to USD 17.5 million for Spider-Man 2, along with a 5 per cent share of the movie's box office profits, as per Bollywood Shaadis.

For Spider-Man 3, he reportedly earned USD 15 million upfront besides 7.5 per cent of the film's first-dollar gross, making it one of Hollywood's biggest superhero contracts at the time. His brief return in Spider-Man: No Way Home is also believed to have earned him another USD 1 million.

Overall, Maguire's total reported earnings from portraying Spider-Man are estimated to be between USD 70 million and USD 80 million.

Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man salary

Andrew Garfield's run as Spider-Man may have been shorter, but it still came with steady salary growth.

According to reports, Garfield earned around USD 500,000 for The Amazing Spider-Man (2012). His salary reportedly increased to USD 1-1.5 million for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014.

His surprise appearance alongside Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland in Spider-Man: No Way Home is also believed to have earned him roughly USD 1 million, taking his total estimated Spider-Man earnings to around USD 5.5-6 million.

Tom Holland on wearing the Spider-Man suit

Speaking to IMDb recently, Holland opened up about the practical challenges of wearing the Spider-Man costume during long shooting days.

He said, "The worst thing is definitely the smell. You know, like, I'm not going to shy away from it. You know, you spend 12 hours in that thing in a deep lunge, jumping up and down all day. That stinks. Andrew and Tobey, they had it way easier than I had it. They had zips in different places. They could use the bathroom. They could take their mask off by themselves. Take their gloves off. For the fourth iteration of this character, it was the first time I could comfortably go to the bathroom."
