Salman Khan's co-star, this year's National Award winner, once quit acting to work at hotel, earning Rs 150 per day, washing cups. Today, Sanjay Mishra's net worth is nearly Rs 150 crore

Today, he is one of the most respected veteran actors in the industry. Actor Sanjay Mishra, known for films such as Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Jolly LLB 2, Masaan, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dilwale and Salman Khan’s God Tussi Great Ho, was recently honoured with a National Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the role of Bhaskar Sinha in the 2024 crime drama Bhakshak. His journey to success was far from easy. The actor, who had been active in films since 1995 and had starred in over 200 projects, once shared how he quit films to go work at a dhaba in Rishikesh named Andavanda Dhaba. That time he was suffering from a severe illness.

“I was suffering from a severe illness. Doctors had removed 15 litres of pus from my stomach, and just after it got cured, I lost my father. I had started losing my life. So, I went to Rishikesh and started making omelettes at a dhaba near the bank of the Ganga. The dhaba owner told me I will have to wash 50 cups a day and I will get Rs 150. But then I thought I needed money for my survival,” he told Screen.

In an interview with Prakhar Gupta, the veteran actor said he was at rock bottom mentally – he had lost his father and was given a difficult health diagnosis by his doctor. “I was the one who was supposed to die. Doctor said if the pus was not removed from my stomach, I would survive for barely 1.5 days…" he reminisced.


That was the time he received an offer from director Rohit Shetty for the movie All The Best, which helped him make a comeback.

According to an Indian Express report, Mishra’s networth is Rs 149 crore. He has a luxurious sea-facing home in Madh Island worth an impressive Rs 4.75 crore.

As per a Hindustan Times report, he was born in Darbhanga, Bihar. He first came into prominence through the popular 90s TV shows Office, Office, Hip Hip Hurray, etc. He is an alumni of the prestigious National School of Drama, where he was a topper. “I think it was by chance that maybe my interview went well, or maybe something else happened that I became the topper. It had nothing to do with anything else,” he told Bollywood Hungama.
