Trading city traffic for snow-capped peaks has become the dream for many; a lifestyle popularized by travel vloggers showcasing the allure of remote work in the mountains. The idea of waking up to serene valleys while maintaining a full-time job is no longer just a digital fantasy. Recently, digital creator couple Anjali and Naman, who have shifted to Manali, took to their joint Instagram account to offer a reality check for aspiring mountain nomads. They shared a detailed breakdown of their expenses for living and working remotely in Leh for a month, revealing exactly what it costs to turn that Himalayan dream into a sustainable reality.

Living for a month in Leh

As per the post, the couple decided to live for a month in Leh and initially expected their accommodation to cost between Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000. However, finding a decent place to stay came at a higher price, with their final rent reaching Rs 30,000, which worked out to around Rs 1,000 per night.

Food accounted for another Rs 9,000 during their month-long stay. This covered their meals throughout the day, from their morning tea to dinner, for both of them. They also set aside Rs 2,500 for groceries and snacks, while their occasional cravings to eat and drink outside added another Rs 5,000 to their overall spending.

Couple shares other expenses

For local transport, the couple rented a scooter for three days at Rs 700 per day. For shorter trips around Leh, they were able to use their host’s scooter without paying an additional rental charge, helping them keep their local commuting costs relatively manageable.

Their travel expenses also formed a significant part of the overall budget. The journey from Manali to Leh cost Rs 6,000 for the two of them. When it was time to leave Leh, they opted to fly to Delhi, spending Rs 12,000 on tickets for both. Their total calculation, including their stay, food, local transport, travel, groceries, outside meals and related cab costs, came to Rs 66,600 for the entire month.
