Rockstar Games unveils $400 special edition collection. Does not include GTA 6 game; here’s what fans get

Rockstar Games has announced a new special collection for Grand Theft Auto 6, but there is one surprising detail the nearly $400 package does not include a copy of the game. Called the Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, the limited-edition set is now available for pre-order for $399.99. Instead of the game, buyers get a collection of GTA 6-themed merchandise inspired by the fictional state of Leonida and its Vice City setting.

What comes in the $400 GTA 6 collection?

The collection includes 11 items, mixing clothing, accessories and collectables. Among them is a figure of Macca the Gator, a character from the fictional TV show featured in GTA 6. Buyers will also get Oakley Frogskins sunglasses, a New Era 9FORTY snapback hat and a Leonida Keys crossbody bag. The box also includes a Macca the Gator magnetic mirror, a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass, a Vice City collectable swizzle spoon, a razor blade keychain, enamel pins, stickers and a double-sided poster featuring a map of Leonida. Rockstar is selling the set in limited quantities, making it more of a collector's item than a traditional game edition.

GTA 6 has to be bought separately; here's why

The biggest catch is that the collection does not come with GTA 6. Fans who want to play the game will have to purchase it separately. Rockstar currently lists two game editions: the Standard Edition and Ultimate Edition. The Standard Edition costs $79.99 in the US, while the Ultimate Edition is priced at $99.99. That means someone buying the $399.99 merchandise collection and the $79.99 Standard Edition would spend nearly $480 before taxes. The separate game is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

When will the collection ship?

Rockstar says the Goodtime State Vice City Collection will begin shipping on November 19, the same day GTA 6 launches. The announcement has already attracted attention because of the price and the fact that the game is sold separately. Shacknews described it as a “swag box” and pointed out that the Oakley sunglasses and New Era hat are among the items that may explain some of the collection's high price. For collectors, however, the package offers something different from the usual digital bonuses that come with expensive game editions.

GTA 6 merchandise push continues

The new collection is part of Rockstar's wider promotional campaign for GTA 6. The company has already revealed different pre-order bonuses and merchandise connected to the game. Rockstar's official information confirms that the game itself will be available in Standard and Ultimate versions, with the Ultimate Edition adding extra in-game content.

GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated game releases of the year, and Rockstar appears to be expanding the franchise beyond the game itself with clothing, accessories and other collectables. For fans who simply want to play GTA 6, the $79.99 Standard Edition is enough. But for collectors looking to bring a little bit of Leonida into the real world, Rockstar's new $399.99 Vice City Collection offers a much bigger — and considerably more expensive package.
