Jennifer Aniston’s journey through love, heartbreak and healing offers a reminder that not every relationship is meant to last forever, and that does not make it a failure. The Friends star once reflected on her highly publicised divorce from Brad Pitt, sharing how the pressure of finding a “forever” love can sometimes create unrealistic expectations.

Aniston and Brad Pitt were among Hollywood’s most talked-about couples. Their relationship captured global attention, and their marriage was often seen as one of the rare successful romances in the entertainment industry. However, after nearly five years of marriage, the couple announced their separation in January 2005 and finalised their divorce on October 2 of the same year.

Years after their split, Aniston opened up about the experience in a 2008 interview with Vogue. When asked if she could remember the exact moment when the post-divorce tension faded, the actress was asked whether she meant the time when she and Pitt had healed. Aniston explained that the situation was never as bitter as it was portrayed publicly. She said that divorce was not something anyone looked forward to, but over time, the painful emotions had become distant. She added that she could barely remember the difficult period because so much time had passed.

The actress also clarified that the separation between her and Pitt was not filled with anger or hostility, despite the stories circulating at the time. According to Aniston, the couple had an amicable split and later had a long conversation where they expressed their feelings. She shared that they remained warm and respectful towards each other after the divorce.

Aniston’s reflection highlighted a deeper lesson about relationships: expecting every love story to last forever can create unnecessary pressure. She admitted that she had once placed that expectation on herself, believing in the idea of a perfect fairy tale relationship. Over time, she realised that such expectations can be difficult to achieve. Her exact words were, "Whoever said everything has to be forever, that's setting your hopes too high. It's too much pressure. And I think if you put that pressure on yourself—because I did! Fairy tale! It has to be the right one!—that's unattainable."
