You must be living under a rock if you haven’t heard of the name Tukaram Mundhe. The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner has been grabbing the headlines off late for leading a high-profile, statewide crackdown on food safety violations by raiding iconic eateries, suspending the licenses of major quick-commerce hubs and fast-food outlets over hygiene issues, and issuing show-cause notices to top celebrities for promoting banned products. His actions have received praise from many, the most recent being Bollywood actress Preity Zinta.

Tukaram Mundhe reacts to Preity Zinta’s support

During one of her casual outings in Mumbai, Preity Zinta was seen wearing a black T-shirt with the words ‘Team Tukaram Munde’ printed on it. The actress paired the fit with a pair of blue jeans. Besides supporting the FDA Commissioner, Preity also praised the officer for his work. ‘It is time to celebrate these heroes’, she said, as quoted by the Times of India.

Now, Tukaram Mundhe has reacted to Preity Zinta’s support. The FDA Commissioner revealed that he did not have a direct conversation with Preity, either in person or over the phone. However, he expressed appreciation for the actress publicly acknowledging the work being done by his team and recognising their efforts.

He also welcomed the support that the food safety campaign has received from people across different sections of society. According to Mundhe, individuals who genuinely care about such issues can come together to build collective support for causes that have a wider social impact. He emphasised the importance of encouraging constructive ideas and turning them into meaningful action.

At the same time, the FDA Commissioner pointed out that public displays of support alone cannot bring about meaningful change in food safety. For the campaign to have a real impact, he stressed that people need to go beyond symbolic gestures, adopt the right attitude and contribute through concrete action.
