Anand Mahindra on why music is a musafir
The video featured P Srinivas singing a rendition of Musafir Hoon Yaaron during his past appearance on season 9 of the Malayalam music reality television show Star Singer. His amazing vocals and moving performance prompted Anand Mahindra to revisit cherished memories from his youth.
In his caption, Anand Mahindra admitted that Musafir Hoon Yaaron remains his all-time favourite song. Lauding Srinivas’ exceptional rendition of the classic, the industrialist made an interesting point. He noted that music is a musafir, which translates to traveller in English. Much like a traveller, who wanders exploring new places, music too has no fixed home or address. But it can cross borders and bridge gaps, acting as a binding force for this huge and diverse country.
Musafir Hoon Yaaron and Anand Mahindra’s childhood
Anand Mahindra also attached a previous post from 2021 with the latest video, which revealed why the song Musafir Hoon Yaaron still holds a special place in his heart, even after decades of its release. The industrialist, in his throwback post, had written that back when he was just 17 years old in 1972, he would often hitchhike from ‘Bombay to Poona taking rides on trucks’.
While such random journeys made Anand Mahindra fall in love with the open road, it also made him fall in love with the Musafir Hoon Yaaron track. Reason? It was around the same time that the film Parichay had come out and he would find himself humming to the popular track often. Hence, the melodious number still echoes in his head, bringing back fond memories from his younger days.
