Los Angeles woman wants to go off the map and live on a Malibu farm at 30. At 22, the millionaire started growing watermelons, pomegranates and vegetables. How it all started?
Once upon a time, Kylie Jenner envisioned a peaceful life beyond the glare of the limelight, dreaming of a serene farm in Malibu, complete with chickens and a loving family. Fast forward to today, and she loves sharing her backyard gardening adven...

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Jenner spoke about that dream during a 2015 interview with Interview magazine. When asked what she would do if she had complete freedom, she described a life that was far removed from celebrity life: more businesses, a family and eventually a farm in Malibu.
Her comments also revealed an interest that seemed much more ordinary than her glamorous public image - gardening.
Jenner’s dream of a quieter life
During the Interview conversation, Jenner explained that she wanted to become a successful businesswoman and hoped to build more businesses in the future. At the same time, she said she eventually wanted to step away from the public eye.She imagined reaching her 30s and leaving the busy celebrity lifestyle behind. According to Jenner, that future included living in Malibu with a farm, raising chickens and spending more time with her family.
The idea was not simply about owning a property. It reflected her desire for a slower and more private way of living.
At the end of that conversation, Jenner also mentioned a more immediate goal. She said she wanted to learn how to garden in 2016.
At the time, gardening may have sounded like a small personal project compared with her ambitions in business. But several years later, Jenner showed that the interest had become part of her everyday life.
Her backyard garden took shape at 22
In April 2020, during the COVID-19 quarantine, Jenner began giving followers a look at her backyard gardening efforts through Instagram Stories.Instead of simply talking about wanting to learn how to garden, she was now growing plants herself. Her home garden included herbs such as basil and rosemary, along with a variety of fruits and vegetables.
The garden became a small window into a different side of Jenner’s life. Away from makeup launches, fashion appearances and business projects, she was spending time growing food at home.
Among the produce associated with her garden were watermelons and a range of vegetables. She also showed fruits including strawberries, blueberries, peaches and cucumbers.
The garden was not limited to vegetables. Kylie also shared plants that were producing or developing fruit, including pomegranates and flowering sweet potato plants.
In one Instagram Story, she talked about her pomegranate plant and expressed her excitement about eventually harvesting the fruit. She also showed a tiny strawberry in her hand and baskets filled with fresh produce.
Those posts gave fans a closer look at a hobby that had once been only a goal Jenner mentioned in an interview.
From gardening goal to farm dream
Kylie Jenner’s backyard garden also connects with the future she described years earlier. Her 2015 comments about moving to Malibu and raising chickens were clearly framed as a long-term dream rather than an immediate plan. She imagined a point in life when she could step away from the constant attention that comes with being famous.
By 22, however, Jenner had already taken one small step toward that vision by growing plants and produce at home. She is 29 now.
Her garden did not amount to the Malibu farm she had imagined, but it showed some of the same ideas: growing food, spending time outdoors and creating a more personal connection with nature.
Meanwhile, on the personal front, Kylie Jenner is currently dating actor Timothée Chalamet. According to Forbes, Kylie Jenner is a millionaire. Her net worth is reportedly estimated to be around $670 million to $750 million.
