Hi OTT release date locked: When and where will the Tamil romantic drama starring Kavin and Nayanthara stream online

Kavin and Nayanthara’s first film together, Hi, is moving from theatres to OTT just weeks after its theatrical release. The Tamil romantic drama, which opened in cinemas on August 28, will begin streaming on ZEE5 soon, according to the streaming platform’s announcement.

The digital premiere gives audiences who missed the film in theatres another opportunity to watch the romantic drama from home. Hi has received mixed to positive responses during its theatrical run, and its digital release on ZEE5 brings the film back into focus.

When and where to watch Hi online

Hi will be available to stream on ZEE5 from September 25. The streaming platform has acquired the digital rights to the film and announced the release date through its promotional updates.


The movie will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, allowing audiences across South India to watch the film in multiple languages.

With its OTT premiere arriving less than a month after the theatrical release, Hi gets a fresh window to reach viewers who may not have watched it on the big screen.

What is Kavin and Nayanthara’s Hi about?

Directed and written by Vishnu Edavan, Hi centres on two people whose lives take an unexpected turn after they walk away from marriages they did not want.

Kavin plays Mayil, a young man who leaves home after his parents decide to arrange his marriage. His search for love has already brought disappointment when he meets Nayanthara’s Devayani, a woman who is also unwilling to accept a marriage chosen for her.

The two gradually grow closer, but their relationship becomes complicated when Devayani plans to leave for London. Mayil tries to prevent her departure by telling a lie, setting off a chain of events involving their families and forcing the characters to confront their feelings and personal choices.

The film combines romance with comedy and family emotions, with relationships and expectations forming an important part of the story.

First film together for Kavin and Nayanthara

A major talking point around Hi has been the pairing of Kavin and Nayanthara, who share the screen for the first time.

The film also features an ensemble cast including Radikaa Sarathkumar, Prabhu, the late K. Bhagyaraj, VTV Ganesh, Sathyan and Amrutha Srinivasan. Aadhithya Kadhir, Kureshi, Fepsi Vijayan, Kaviya Arivumani, Renji Panicker and Mirchi Kemy are also part of the cast.

During the film’s promotional campaign, Kavin addressed speculation surrounding the age difference between the two lead characters.

Vishnu Edavan makes directorial debut

Hi marks Vishnu Edavan’s first feature as a director. Before moving behind the camera, he was known for his work as a lyricist in Tamil cinema.

His credits include songs such as “Polakattum Para Para” from Master and “Badass” from Leo.

The film has been produced by Vignesh Shivan, Nayanthara and S. S. Lalit Kumar through a collaboration involving Zee Studios, Rowdy Pictures and Seven Screen Studio.
