Govinda once gave Salman Khan a blunt reality check
Speaking to ANI, Govinda remembered meeting Salman during that phase and trying to understand what he was going through. He said Salman was dealing with “pain and distress” and felt that personal troubles had affected the actor’s outlook.
Govinda asked Salman to look within himself
Govinda said he decided to have a conversation with Salman and introduced him to a person named Satya. The two reportedly sat together and had a drink, during which Govinda tried to give Salman some advice about moving beyond his problems.Govinda then spoke about Salman’s appearance and state of mind at the time. Interestingly, he said he did not feel Salman looked like the kind of hero audiences were used to seeing, even though he believed the actor had the potential to become a huge star.
“At that time, I weighed 114 kilos. It was the time when I had just come out of politics. I told him, "By the time I lose weight, I'll already be a character actor, right? I'll continue doing the kind of roles I was doing in Partner, I was doing comedy." I told him, "You are the hero, but you don't look like one right now. You look unhappy, you look sad. Come out of this," he added.
Govinda predicted Salman would rule for 10 years
According to Govinda, Salman asked him what he should do next. Govinda said he advised him to exercise and reminded him of the qualities he believed made Salman different from other actors.Govinda also claimed that Salman eventually followed the advice and went on to have the kind of run he had predicted. “He did it. I told him, "You will rule for 10 years." And he did rule for 10 years.”
Salman Khan is currently busy with his next film with director Vamshi Paidipally. The actor began shooting the project, currently known as SVC63, earlier this year, with Nayanthara as the female lead. The makers have announced an Eid 2027 release, and Salman is now working on a Mumbai schedule of the film. The action entertainer is being produced by Dil Raju.
Apart from this, Salman is also set to collaborate with The Family Man creators Raj and DK on another film. The project is in the preparation stage and is expected to go on floors later in 2026.
