Suriya and Jyotika are one of the power couples in the Tamil industry. The pair got married in September 2006 in Chennai. They are proud parents to two children - daughter Diya, born in August 2007, and a son Dev, born in June 2010. Beyond films, both Suriya and Jyotika are committed to their wellness practices, making sure to eat clean, hit the gym and get enough sleep despite packed schedules. For the couple, a healthy living isn’t about following elaborate routines but making small, mindful habits every day.

Suriya and Jyotika recently appeared on The Hollywood Reporter’s interview where the couple shared their fitness and dietary regimen. Interestingly, their well-being guide also has a special connection to legendary Malayalam actor Mammootty.

Suriya-Jyotika’s wellness practises



When asked about what comprises inside either of their wellness kits, Jyotika revealed that she carries gloves, a water bottle and a deodorant spray inside her gym bag at all times. Suriya chimed in stating that his wife has also advised the actor to keep a water bottle with him as well as a pair of jogging shoes as he likes to walk and jog at a minimal incline. Suriya shared that he also carries his own supplements.

As for their workout routine, Jyotika admitted that she is a morning person and usually begins her day by eating an apple before hitting the gym. Her core exercises include lifting weights and physical strength training. ‘I work out four to five times a week,’ she said. On the other hand, Suriya devotes his time into functional strength training and pull-ups. Since he had previously suffered from a back injury, the actor avoids heavy weightlifting or powerlifting and instead works on his flexibility.


Suriya-Jyotika share wellness advice

When it came to their best wellness advice they have ever receives, Jyotika told the media portal that her fitness trainer Mahesh Ghanekar once told her that it is ‘all about strength and not about looks’. As per Ghanekar, weight loss is a consequence. Following his advice, Jyotika, at 47, completed her first two pull-ups reinforcing Ghanekar’s mantra that age is a number and nothing is impossible.

Meanwhile, Suriya disclosed that it was Mammootty who once gave him a million-dollar advice on overall wellness. As per the Malayalam star, an individual can eat everything they love but in small proportions, indicating that portion control is the key to a balanced lifestyle. ‘Eat all that I like, but not in the amount that I would like,’ were Mammootty’s exact words, recalled Suriya. The star also urged Suriya never to compromise on 8 to 9 hours of sleep.
