BJP MP-actress Kangana Ranaut hits back at CJP’s Saurav Das: ‘At his age I had…’

BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut has escalated her war of words with Cockroach Janta Party spokesperson Saurav Das after he questioned her performance as a parliamentarian and claimed that neither her party nor the younger generation takes her seriously. Responding through her Instagram Stories, Ranaut reposted a video of Das speaking about her and launched a personal attack, calling him "simply useless" while defending her achievements and political career.

According to Kangana, she looked up Das online and found that he is 28 years old. She questioned how he could still describe himself as a student and pointed out that while she has been in politics for the past two years, she has spent the last two decades in public life. Highlighting her accomplishments, Ranaut said that by the time she was Das' age, she had already won two National Awards.

The BJP MP also addressed criticism surrounding her work as a first-time parliamentarian. She admitted that she initially felt overwhelmed by the responsibilities of the role, explaining that she continues to balance multiple careers as a filmmaker, performing artist, producer, screenwriter and entrepreneur.


Ranaut argued that someone like Das, whom she described as "totally useless and unemployed," would not understand what it means to remain in demand across different professions. She went on to say that his issues appeared to be personal and advised him to begin by learning a skill.

What did Saurav Das say about Kangana Ranaut?

Saurav Das had earlier responded to Kangana Ranaut's criticism of the youth-led protests, claiming that even members of her own party do not "take her seriously." Speaking to ANI, he said he did not believe people from Gen Z, Gen Alpha or other younger generations paid much attention to the BJP MP's remarks.

Das also questioned Ranaut's commitment as a parliamentarian, referring to a video from her visit to her constituency in Himachal Pradesh. He pointed out that she had admitted she initially expected the role of an MP to involve very little work before realising it required "a massive amount of labour." According to Das, those remarks reflected her own seriousness towards the position.

What sparked the exchange?

The latest remarks came after Ranaut criticised Gen Z protesters who had participated in the now-withdrawn Cockroach Janta Party protest. Reacting to videos from the demonstrations, she said she had never witnessed "so much ugliness in one place" and described the footage as "puke-inducing." She criticised the language used by the protesters and questioned who was raising the younger generation.

In a follow-up post, the BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi constituency intensified her criticism, particularly targeting young women who took part in the protests. Ranaut said that women who are truly independent make bold choices, express unconventional opinions and take responsibility for their actions without depending on their families. She contrasted this with what she described as a new generation of westernised Indian women, referring to them as "Generation gutter."

She also claimed that some women protesters were "so ugly and corrupt" that they could not even be homemakers.

Why did the controversy begin?

The exchange comes days after the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) called off its 36-day protest at Jantar Mantar, saying the government had accepted its key demands. These included the resignation of then Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, withdrawal of FIRs, an assurance against retaliatory action and a commitment to consider broader examination reforms.

However, on Monday, the outfit demanded the immediate release of arrested protesters, withdrawal of all criminal cases and a written assurance that no fresh FIRs would be registered. It warned that it would resume its agitation if the commitments were not honoured.
