10 Apple original films to watch in 2026: from John Cena’s Matchbox to Tom Hiddleston’s Tenzing

Apple TV is filling its 2026 movie slate with action adventures, sports comedies, biographical dramas and documentaries, bringing together stars including John Cena, Tom Hiddleston, Ryan Reynolds, Keanu Reeves and Chris Pratt. 1. The Last First: Winter K2

The documentary follows a dangerous 2021 expedition involving Icelandic climber John Snorri Sigurjónsson and Pakistani father-son mountaineers Ali and Sajid Sadpara as they attempt to become the first to reach K2’s summit in winter. Directed by Amir Bar-Lev, the film also looks at the changing culture of extreme mountaineering and questions surrounding money, power and ambition. Apple describes it as a story unfolding under “life-and-death circumstances.”

2. Matchbox The Movie

John Cena leads this action-adventure inspired by Mattel’s Matchbox toy cars. The story follows a group of childhood friends whose reunion turns into an international mission after Cena’s character, a former CIA agent, returns to their hometown. Sam Hargrave, known for the Extraction films, directs the movie. Reuters reported that Apple showcased the film at San Diego Comic-Con, where its trailer was unveiled ahead of the October release.

3. Tenzing

Tom Hiddleston plays Edmund Hillary in this drama about Tenzing Norgay, portrayed by Genden Phuntsok. The film revisits the historic 1953 Everest expedition and puts Norgay’s perspective at the centre of the story. Apple says the film explores the tensions surrounding class, empire and competing ambitions as Norgay and Hillary attempt to reach the summit.

4. Being Heumann

Directed by Oscar winner Siân Heder, Being Heumann stars Ruth Madeley as disability rights activist Judith Heumann, with Mark Ruffalo also in the cast. The film recently had its world premiere as the opening-night movie at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival. It will receive a limited theatrical release on November 6 before arriving globally on Apple TV a week later.

5. Way of the Warrior Kid

Chris Pratt stars alongside Jude Hill and Linda Cardellini in this coming-of-age drama. Hill plays Marc, a bullied middle-school student who begins training under his injured uncle Jake, a Navy SEAL played by Pratt. The film is based on Jocko Willink’s bestselling novel and is directed by McG. Apple says the story focuses less on fighting and more on teaching Marc courage and confidence.

6. Mayday

Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh headline this action comedy set during the Cold War. Reynolds plays a Navy pilot stranded behind enemy lines after a mission goes wrong, while Branagh portrays an ex-KGB agent who becomes an unlikely ally. The film was written and directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. Apple describes it as a genre-bending buddy comedy that turns a spy mission into an unexpected partnership.

7. The Dink

Jake Johnson stars as Dusty Boyd, a former tennis prodigy who finds himself coaching children at his father’s country club. After an injury threatens his tennis career, Dusty reluctantly turns to pickleball. Mary Steenburgen and Ed Harris also star in the sports comedy, directed by Josh Greenbaum. Apple describes the story as a clash between tennis, pickleball and a complicated father-son relationship.

8. Outcome

Keanu Reeves plays Hollywood star Reef Hawk in Jonah Hill’s dark comedy. After being threatened with an embarrassing video, Reef begins a journey to confront people he may have wronged and uncover the person behind the extortion. Cameron Diaz, Matt Bomer and Hill also star. Apple describes the film as a “soul-searching journey” involving fame, redemption and the consequences of a celebrity lifestyle.

9. Propeller One-Way Night Coach

John Travolta takes on multiple roles as writer, director, narrator and producer in this aviation-themed family film. Set during the golden age of aviation, it follows a young aeroplane enthusiast and his mother on a cross-country journey to Hollywood. The film premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival before its Apple TV release.

10. Eternity

Elizabeth Olsen, Miles Teller and Callum Turner star in this unusual romantic fantasy. The story takes place in an afterlife where souls have one week to decide where they want to spend eternity. Olsen’s Joan faces an impossible decision between the husband she spent her life with, played by Teller, and her first love, played by Turner, who has been waiting decades for her.
