Commercial LPG cylinder prices have been reduced by up to Rs 209 from August 1, offering relief to restaurants, hotels and other businesses that rely on the fuel.

Following the revision, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder will cost Rs 2,872.50 in Kolkata from August 1.

At the same time, aviation turbine fuel (ATF) became costlier after state-owned oil marketing companies raised prices by Rs 5 per litre, as per PTI. The prices have been raised to Rs 115 per litre from Rs 110 per litre, reversing the price cut implemented on July 1.

Commercial LPG gets cheaper

The price reduction applies only to 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders used by businesses. There has been no change in the prices of 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders supplied to households, ANI reported, citing sources.

Second consecutive monthly price cut

This is the second straight monthly reduction in commercial LPG prices after a similar cut in July. The latest revision partially offsets the sharp increases seen in recent months as global LPG prices climbed amid supply concerns linked to the Iran war and the wider West Asia crisis.

Comes amid West Asia tensions

The price revision comes two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a nearly two-hour high-level meeting with senior ministers and top officials in Parliament to review India's preparedness in view of the escalating conflict in West Asia.
