Mumbai: Essar Energy Transition has secured $400 million in financing facilities from three European and UK banks to strengthen its balance sheet, improve working capital and support its long-term growth and decarbonisation plans.

The financing package includes a $350 million Receivables Purchase Agreement (RPA), up from the earlier $150 million facility, the company said.

UK lender NatWest has joined the facility with a commitment of $175 million, while existing lender ABN AMRO has increased its commitment to $175 million.

In addition, Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking has increased its committed financing by $50 million, taking its total financing facility to $150 million.
Essar said the expanded financing will improve liquidity and provide greater financial flexibility amid volatile market conditions.

Satish Vasooja, Chief Financial Officer of Essar Energy Transition, said the increased commitments from existing lenders and the addition of NatWest would help optimise the company's capital structure while supporting its strategy and ensuring energy security in the UK.

Tarun Naruka, Head of Corporate and Structured Finance, said the transaction reflected the company's disciplined capital management and strengthened its financial resilience by diversifying funding sources.

Essar Energy Transition plans to invest £4.3 billion in low-carbon energy projects in the UK by 2035 as part of its strategy to develop a major energy transition hub in north-west England.
