Varun Beverages Limited Zimbabwe on Thursday signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Mondelez South Africa for leveraging opportunities in the snacks distribution market.

The company has acquired rights for exclusive distribution of chocolate, biscuit, candy and gum products of Mondelez in the territory of Zimbabwe with effect from October 1, 2026.

However, the PepsiCo India bottler did not disclose any additional investment in the venture as it plans to leverage existing distribution network.


VBL share price: Shares of Varun Beverages Ltd. were trading at Rs 435.00 per script after a 0.13% decline as at 13:07 on BSE.

"We wish to inform you that Varun Beverages (Zimbabwe) (Private) Limited (a subsidiary of our Company) has entered into an Exclusive Distribution Agreement today with Mondelez South Africa Proprietary Limited (“Mondelez”) effective from October 1, 2026 for the exclusive distribution of chocolate, biscuit, candy and gum products of Mondelez in the territory of the Republic of Zimbabwe," VBL said in a regulatory filing.

During H1 2026, VBL's net capitalized capex amounted to Rs. 9,500 million. This included Rs. 2,000 million towards brownfield expansion in India including value-added dairy beverages line at Supa, Rs. 1,000 million towards snack manufacturing plant in Zimbabwe, and Rs 4,000 million towards market infrastructure including visicoolers, glass bottles, pallets, and vehicles, etc., VBL Director Raj Gandhi said in a recent earnings call.

VBL Chairman Ravi Jaipuria said that the company sees good potential going forward and is expanding in the African continent.

The beverage giant has been bullish on the African market as the latest announcement comes after VBL's launch of an energy drink and a new carbonated soft drink in Kenya.

On September 14, it launched two new brands BOLT UP, an energy drink, and XTREME FIZZ, a bold new carbonated soft drink, marking the company's latest push to expand its portfolio and build locally relevant brands for Kenyan consumers.
