AWL Agri business penalised for substandard O=oil

New Delhi: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has secured an adjudication order against AWL Agri Business for manufacturing and marketing substandard fortified sunflower oil after laboratory tests found it failed to meet prescribed vitamin fortification standards.

The adjudicating officer in Goa has imposed a penalty under the Food Safety and Standards Act after tests found that a batch of Fortune Fryola Refined Sunflower Seed Oil did not conform to standards laid down under the Food Safety and Standards (Fortification of Foods) Regulations, 2018. FSSAI did not reveal the penalty amount.

According to FSSAI, a primary food laboratory analysis of a one-litre sample of the product collected from Taj Fort Aguada Resort & Spa in Goa found that the levels of Vitamins A and D were below the prescribed standards, rendering the product "substandard" under the Act. -Our Bureau
