Cornell University rape case
Gillio Lopes, one of the seven accused named in the Cornell University ‘gang rape’ lawsuit, entered into a heated argument with a female student on the university campus. The video clip of the confrontation went viral on social media.

In the 53-second clip, a woman walks up to Lopes, confronting him if he's embarrassed to still be at the campus. She was also heard asking him what he has to say for himself. The boy apparently sounded like he didn't want to respond.

Things did not end here, as the woman, who was apparently recording the video, called him a "disgusting person," adding that everyone at Cornell is ashamed of him and the Snapchat group, in which one of the seven frat bros referred to Jane Doe as "Free p***y," is sickening.

The lawsuit, filed by a former Cornell University student identified as Jane Doe, alleges that she was plied with drugs and alcohol and then subjected to sexual abuse while she was incapacitated. The court filing further claimed a social media message was also sent to other fraternity members inviting people to take part.

The incident, which reportedly occurred and was first reported in 2024, found its way back into the limelight after a fresh lawsuit was filed in September 2026 against seven fraternity brothers, the university, the Chi Phi fraternity, and others, filled with shocking allegations. Lopes said that 60 people are in the now infamous group chat, but the girl continued to snap at him, saying that she just wanted to tell him she's disgusted by him.

Lopes' lawyer slams Jane Doe's attorney

As the video of the confrontation emerged on social media, Lopes' lawyer, Andrew Miltenberg, pointed the blame on Jane Doe's attorney, Thomas Giuffre, saying that what transpired today shows that it is dangerous to rush to judgment.

Speaking to TMZ, Miltenberg said, “What has emerged today only reinforces how dangerous it is to rush to judgment. The contemporaneous texts and other evidence now being reported show a far more complicated and evolving factual picture than the one initially presented to the public."

"Nothing we say is intended to minimize the trauma Jane Doe has described. Her experience deserves to be treated seriously and with dignity. But empathy for an accuser and fairness to the accused are not mutually exclusive," he further stated.

Miletenberg lashed out at Jane Doe's attorney, claiming that he "has masterfully manipulated the media narrative, and the consequences are now very real: Mr. Lopes was publicly accosted this morning and is being condemned before the evidence has been fully heard."

He ended, "Due process exists for precisely this reason. Publicity is not evidence. Repetition is not proof. An accusation cannot be allowed to become its own proof. He is entitled to have the evidence tested through the legal process—not by headlines, social media, or people confronting him in public or threatening his family.”
