Ken Paxton's campaign has rebuked a report by The New York Times (NYT) on his relationship with the Christian influencer Tracy Duhon, calling it "disgusting". Duhon has largely remained out of the public eye during Paxton's Senate campaign, though the two have been traveling abroad and celebrating holidays together. The relationship unfolds as Paxton's wife Angela has filed for divorce on “biblical grounds" and he faces a tough fight for a Senate seat in the November 3 midterm elections.

What does the NYT report say?

The NYT on Tuesday published a profile of Duhon with the headline: "The Christian Influencer at the Center of Ken Paxton’s New Life." The piece revealed that Duhon was not registered to vote in Texas, and cited state records to report that she was registered as a Democrat in Louisiana.

'Disgusting, invasive story'

Paxton's campaign spokeswoman Madison Cercy rejected the Times article in a statement given to the publication. "This is a disgusting, invasive story that has nothing to do with the issues Texans care about," Cercy said.

"The attorney general’s personal life is not a campaign issue, and we won’t dignify it with a response," she added.

What do we know about Tracy Duhon?

Paxton and Duhon reportedly started dating in May 2024 after meeting at the Kentucky Derby. Both were married to other people at that time, according to the Daily Mail.

Duhon, a Christian influencer, has built a public profile around faith, family, and redemption. She is the co-founder of the Christian nonprofit Giving Hope NOLA, alongside her former husband and prominent Louisiana car dealer Troy Duhon.

In 2023, the Duhons co-hosted a religious marriage retreat at $799 per couple. "When Hope is All You Have," a book released by her in 2025, covers loss, betrayal, her three divorces, and God’s plan, but does not mention Paxton. "God’s plan is better than my own even when it includes suffering," Duhon wrote in her book, according to the NYT.

The Duhons share four surviving children, including one adopted from China, and suffered the loss of two children shortly after birth, according to the NYT piece. Duhon filed for divorce from Troy in July 2024, two months after she reportedly met Paxton and after 35 years with her husband.

The revelations about his girlfriend come as Paxton faces Democrat James Talarico in a high-stakes Senate battle that could help determine which party controls the chamber. Several polls show Talarico ahead of Paxton in the key race.
