An Oklahoma woman has been sentenced to seven consecutive life terms for failing to protect her 11-year-old daughter from sexual abuse by the child's stepfather. Cherie Dawn Walker is also accused of allowing the child to give birth at home without medical aid after she became pregnant with the man's child. On Friday (Oct. 30), a Muskogee County judge sentenced Walker to seven consecutive life sentences, the People magazine reported citing court records.

Walker was charged last year

In August 2025, Walker, aged 34, was charged with one count of child sexual abuse and six counts of child neglect after authorities learned that her 11-year-old daughter had given birth to a baby at the family’s home without prenatal care or medical assistance on August 16, 2025.

Authorities were alerted to the incident only after the child was taken to a hospital after giving birth.

In a statement to CBS affiliate KOTV at the time, Muskogee County Assistant District Attorney Janet Hutson said that both Walker and her husband, Dustin Walker, claimed that they were not aware the child was pregnant when she gave birth.

"This child is traumatized," Hutson said at the time. "She’s been through a horrific ordeal. I mean, not only has somebody gotten her pregnant, but she gave birth at home without medical assistance, and this will be her life for the rest of her life."

Stepfather pleaded guilty to charges

Prosecutors later argued that Walker knew her husband was sexually abusing her daughter, but did not do anything to stop him. In July this year, Walker was convicted on all seven felony counts, People reported citing Muskogee County court records.

The stepfather, Dustin Walker, had earlier this year pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a child under 12 and six counts of child neglect, as per KOTV. He has since been sentenced to life imprisonment, the outlet reported.

The child’s maternal grandmother, Michelle Justus, was also charged in the case, as prosecutors argued that she knew that sexual abuse was taking place within the household and did nothing to stop the same, according to Tulsa-based NBC affiliate KJRH.
