What will Arizona voters decide?

At the federal level, Arizona voters will elect members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Neither of the state’s U.S. Senate seats is being contested in the 2026 election.

At the state level, voters will choose candidates for the state’s top offices, which includes governor, secretary of state and attorney general. All seats in both chambers of the Arizona Legislature are also up for election.

Arizona voters will also consider many ballot measures. These are proposals that would require voters to show ID when they vote by mail, prevent public institutions from implementing diversity attempts, prohibit photo traffic enforcement systems and address other concerns.

Local offices will also be included on ballots in different parts of the state. Depending on the outcome of a local race and the guidelines established by the specific municipality, some candidates could advance to a runoff election.

To qualify to vote in Arizona, an individual must be a U.S. citizen, be at least 18 years old by Election Day and have been a resident of Arizona for at least 29 days before the election.

A person cannot register to vote if they are a convicted felon whose voting rights have not been restored or if they have been adjudicated as an incapacitated person.

Voting activity starts on Wednesday, Oct. 7. That is when mail ballots start going out, and it is also the initial day of in-person voting.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, which is the final day to cast a ballot.

How to automatically receive a ballot by mail

Arizona voters who are enrolled in the state’s Active Early Voting List will automatically obtain a ballot by mail.

Voters who are not on the list but want to vote by mail can request a one-time mail ballot by contacting their county election officials. The deadline for requesting a mail ballot is Oct. 23.

When must your mail ballot arrive?

To be counted, a completed mail ballot must be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3.

Voters are recommended to account for potential delays when returning their ballots. The offered guidance advises putting a ballot in the mail seven to 10 days before Election Day, with Oct. 27 given as the latest suggested mailing date.

Officials generally advise voters to return ballots as soon as possible, especially for rural voters. Postage is prepaid, meaning voters are not required to place a stamp on their ballot.

What time do polls close on Election Day?

On Election Day, polls start from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. Early voting hours change as per the location, so voters should contact their local election authorities for details.

For Arizona voters planning to vote by mail, the most significant dates include Oct. 23, the deadline to request a one-time mail ballot, and Nov. 3, when ballots must be obtained by 7 p.m. to be counted.
