For years, Texas state Sen. Angela Paxton stood beside her husband, Ken Paxton, through political campaigns, legal troubles and a highly publicized impeachment trial. She even performed a song at his campaign events that joked about his legal battles. But after 38 years of marriage, Angela filed for divorce in July 2025, citing what she called “recent discoveries.” New reports about Ken Paxton’s alleged relationship with Louisiana religious influencer Tracy Duhon have since brought fresh attention to the couple’s split.

Why did Angela Paxton file for divorce

Angela Paxton announced her decision on social media on July 16, 2025, saying she had filed for divorce on biblical grounds. In her statement, she said she had tried to save the marriage but no longer believed staying together was right for her family.

“Today, after 38 years of marriage, I filed for divorce on biblical grounds,” Angela Paxton posted on X. “I believe marriage is a sacred covenant and I have earnestly pursued reconciliation. But in light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that it honors God or is loving to myself, my children, or Ken to remain in the marriage.

“I move forward with complete confidence that God is always working everything together for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose,” she wrote.

Ken Paxton also addressed the decision, asking people to respect their privacy.

”After facing the pressures of countless political attacks and public scrutiny, Angela and I have decided to start a new chapter in our lives,” he posted on X. “I could not be any more proud or grateful for the incredible family that God has blessed us with, and I remain committed to supporting our amazing children and grandchildren.” The inputs are taken from a report by The Daily Record.

The wife who stood by him through political turmoil

Angela had remained a visible supporter of her husband throughout his political career. A former teacher and guidance counselor, she used to play guitar and sing at his campaign events and Republican gatherings across Texas. Her song included the line, “I’m a pistol-packin’ mama, and my husband sues Obama.”

She also attended all two weeks of Ken’s 2023 impeachment trial. The proceedings examined allegations that he had used his office to help a real estate developer who was under FBI investigation. His alleged affair with a woman became a major part of the case, although the woman did not testify. Ken was ultimately acquitted, and Angela was not allowed to vote on the verdict.

What do recent reports say about Tracy Duhon?

A New York Times investigation has identified Tracy Duhon as Ken Paxton’s alleged girlfriend. The report says she is registered as a Democrat in Louisiana and is not registered to vote in Texas. It also says the pair share a home in a gated community in Frisco, outside Dallas.

According to the Times, Paxton’s aides have kept Duhon away from his Senate campaign events, advertisements and political reporters.

The Wall Street Journal has separately reported that Paxton and Duhon attended a Dubai party with two American fugitives indicted on healthcare-fraud charges. The newspaper cited a video it reviewed, court records and people familiar with the event.

One of the men healthcare executive Anosh Ahmed gave $190,000 to Ken Paxton, including $25,000 a few days after his 2024 indictment according to the Journal.

Ken Paxton, who was first elected as Texas attorney general in 2014 is now running for the nomination to challenge Senator John Cornyn in the 2026 election. Meanwhile, Angela’s divorce filing and the reports about Duhon have placed renewed attention on the personal life behind his political career.
