Why was Diddy transferred to a new prison?
Diddy was moved from Fort Dix prison in New Jersey to FCI Allenwood in Pennsylvania last week, TMZ reported. Jose Rojas, a union secretary representing Bureau of Prisons employees, told TMZ that Combs is now housed in general population, alongside other inmates.Allenwood has around 1,000 inmates, compared with about 4,000 at Fort Dix. The smaller population could make it easier for staff to monitor inmates, although the Bureau of Prisons has not confirmed details of Combs’ housing assignment.
Diddy’s representative, Juda Engelmayer, welcomed the report but made clear that the information had not been independently confirmed by the team.
“If this information is accurate, we're pleased to hear that Sean has returned to general population. His safety and well-being are always important to us, but we have no specific reason to believe he is at risk. We hope he can continue serving his time safely and without unnecessary disruption.”
What happened during Diddy’s time at Fort Dix?
Combs spent nearly a year at Fort Dix before his transfer. During that period, he reportedly received several disciplinary violations involving alleged fighting and the use of contraband cellphones. NBC News also reported claims that he had access to prohibited items and privileges, including a cellphone containing nude photos, alcohol, massages and elaborate meals. He was subsequently placed in the Special Housing Unit, commonly known as the SHU, which is used to separate inmates from the general prison population.
Sources told TMZ that Combs lost 41 days of good-time credit, which can help prisoners qualify for earlier release, along with 400 days of commissary privileges.
The Bureau of Prisons declined to confirm his current housing arrangement. A spokesperson told TMZ: "For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for any individual in our custody, including housing assignments."
Diddy is serving a 50 months prison sentence after being convicted in 2025 on two prostitution-related charges. He was acquitted of the serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. His reported return to general population marks a change from the restrictions he faced at Fort Dix. However, prison officials have not publicly confirmed the details of his current placement.
