Sean “Diddy” Combs’ prison release date pushed back to March 2028 amid reports of special treatment behind bars

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ projected prison release date has been moved back by many weeks, as per Bureau of Prisons records mentioned by several media outlets. His release date, which had earlier been listed as Jan. 21, 2028, is currently March 2, 2028.

The change arrived amid reports concerning Combs’ treatment while incarcerated and follows allegations that he had access to items and services which are not permitted in prison. Separately, Combs has also been ordered to pay almost $478,000 in attorneys’ charge in association with his dismissed defamation lawsuit against NBCUniversal, Peacock and production company Ample.


Diddy now is incarcerated at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. Reportedly, he was sentenced to 50 months in prison after being found guilty in July 2025 of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution after a federal sex trafficking trial in New York.

Report alleges special treatment behind bars

As per TMZ, Diddy was returned to solitary confinement at FCI Fort Dix after he was reportedly discovered in possession of a cell phone and Hennessy. The report also alleged that he was offering money to other inmates in exchange for massages and gourmet meals.

The development follows an NBC report published previous month that alleged Combs had a rotating team of fellow inmates performing different tasks for him. As per the report, the inmates allegedly cooked, cleaned, made his bed, did his laundry and provided with Chinese-style massages.

The claims arrived from four inmates who apparently share the same unit as Combs. One of them allegedly made food for him using makeshift heating elements such as curry chicken, pizza and empanadas.

Combs’ representative disputes the reports

Combs’ representative, Juda Engelmayer, challenged the reporting regarding his time in prison.

“The continued scrutiny of every mundane detail of Sean Combs’s life in prison has reached the point where the media characterizes ordinary prison life as news,” Engelmayer said. “The only real news is that Sean continues to serve his sentence within the rules and he patiently awaits the court’s decision on his appeal.”

As per People, Combs remained in the special housing unit as of Friday morning.

Appeal remains separate

The recent ruling leaves Combs accountable for another significant legal bill, while his representative has highlighted that the court rejected more than half of the amount NBCUniversal originally sought.

Meanwhile, Combs’ appeal of the underlying dismissal remains a separate matter as he remains to challenge the outcome of his $100 million defamation lawsuit. His prison release date is currently listed as March 2, 2028, after the previous adjustment from Jan. 21, 2028.
