First responders were dispatched to the nursing home facility following a report of a shooting. According to multiple outlets, the sheriff's office press release said that a 75-year-old man went to visit his 73-year-old wife, who was a patient at the nursing home. The man reportedly entered the facility with a concealed handgun.

The staff of the nursing home heard two possible gunshot sounds from the room of the woman, prompting them to alert the sheriff’s office.
Both husband and wife were found wounded. Calling the incident “an apparent murder-suicide,” Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth said that “no one else was injured,” according to the Sandusky Register. The staff provided medical aid to the wounded couple until medics arrived at the facility.
Husband and wife dead
The wife died at the scene, while on the other hand the man, who was transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center, succumbed to his injuries.
“During this difficult time we ask for compassion & grace. All residents are safe. Please keep everyone in your thoughts & prayers,” The Meadows at Osborn Park said in a statement.
The identities of husband and wife were not revealed at the time of filing of this report, and authorities continued the investigation to determine the possible motive behind the shooting.
