Nintendo on Wednesday, October 28 announced that it would restock the special edition Switch 2 for the 40th anniversary of ‘The Legend of Zelda’. The company has been promoting the anniversary recently with the release of several action figures and even the limited-edition Switch 2.

The Zelda-themed Switch 2 and the remake of ‘Ocarina of Time’, was first announced in September 2026. The remake comes out on November 5, while the Switch 2 is released earlier on October 29. The Switch 2, which does not have a copy of the upcoming remake, was still immediately sold out.

Nintendo says Zelda-themed Switch 2 will be restocked

According to Nintendo’s Latin America Vice President Bill van Zyll, the company did not anticipate the fans’ reaction to the Switch 2, with it being sold out everywhere. The Vice President has now reassured fans who could not get their hands on the Switch 2. He said that the company will be restocking the console, however Zyll did not provide any specifics of when the restock should be expected.

Regardless this should assure the fans who could not pre-order the $519.99 console before the sold out. The firm will be restocking it in the near future. Earlier, Nintendo itself had updated their Switch 2 page reassuring fans to “check back soon”. Zyll said, “I cannot tell you the dates right now, We’re working on it. I can’t tell you the quantities…but that is the plan that we have right now.”

Since being sold out within minutes of going live it has been re-selling for about $600 to $800 on resale markets including eBay. The ‘Ocarina of Time’ remake can be preordered from November 5 for $59.99 on the Nintendo eSop.

Why is the Zelda-themed Switch 2 so sought after?

The special-edition Switch 2 is inspired by the iconic design of ‘The Legend of Zelda’. It features a beautiful black dock with the golden ‘Triforce’ symbol and other symbols inspired from the game.

The highlight of the console is the green and gold Joy-Con 2 controller which frames the 7.9-inch full HD, 1080p vibrant screen which makes detailed gaming possible. The Switch can be connected to an up to 4k resolution television for a portable environment.

The console also offers three gaming modes, including the handheld, tabletop and TV gaming modes. It supports all Switch to compatible games.
