Katie Suarez was the victim of a brutal stabbing in New York City on October 31, 2026. She was stabbed in the neck near a popular Brooklyn promenade, while on a run on Saturday evening, just before 8 pm. Her father discovered her on the route, when he went out looking for her after she did not return home in time.

Katie saved 5 lives with organ donation

Days after the attack, Katie’s mother Yasira Suarez confirmed that she had succumbed to her injuries. Yasira said on Tuesday, November 3, “She passed away yesterday. Katie is no longer with us, unfortunately”. She further urged the killer, who was still at-large then, to turn themselves in, saying, “You took an angel,” the New York Post reported.

According to the New York Post, which quoted law enforcement sources, Katie saved the lives of five people after her death by donating her organs. Even after being declared brain dead, her family asked for her to be kept on life support so doctors could harvest her organs, the sources said.
