Early voting sites across Michigan will open on October 24, 2026 (Saturday)
Early voting sites across Michigan will open on October 24, 2026 (Saturday), for voters who want to vote in person before the November 3, 2026 mid-term election. In Michigan, the option to vote early and in person came after the state approved a constitutional amendment in November, 2022.
The amendment provides voters the right to vote early and in person at early voting sites before statewide and federal elections. As a part of the electoral process, voters receive a ballot and can complete it before personally placing it in the tabulator at their early voting site.
Who can vote early?
To exercise the option of early voting, the person should be a registered voter in the state of Michigan. They can vote at an early voting site for statewide and federal elections. Voters in the state can register to vote up to and on Election Day, including during the early voting period.
Can people with disabilities vote early?
The option to vote early and in person is open for all, including those with disabilities. They can reach out to an early voting site or at a polling place. They also have the option of using a standard or accessible absentee ballot.
All the early voting sites have at least one Voter Assist Terminal (VAT). It is a ballot-marking device that can be used by any voter. VATs also provide tools to assist voters with visual, hearing, mobility, or other disabilities.
There is also an option of accessible curbside voting at early voting sites. Voters may get in touch with their local election clerk to request curbside voting. They may also be required to send someone into the early voting site to request curbside voting on their behalf. From there, an election official will bring the ballot outside for the voter to complete.
