Susan Dell faced online criticism over her appearance after her White House visit with Trump.

“Mar-a-Lago face” is making waves online after American philanthropist Susan Dell went to the White House and met President Donald Trump to talk about money for children’s futures. More than her speech, it was her facial expression and looks that caught the attention of social media users. Many X accounts posted the video to claim that Susan Dell’s look was what is known as “Mar-a-Lago face," a term that has gained currency in the US in the last few years.

What does ‘Mar-a-Lago face’ mean?

“Mar-a-Lago face” is an informal phrase used online to describe a highly polished or visibly enhanced appearance. The label is often linked to people in wealthy political and social circles. The term Mar-a-Lago also refers to Donald Trump’s private club and residence in Palm Beach, Florida.

Shervin Naderi, in a Virginia Facial Plastic Surgery blog page explaining it said, “a modern aristocratic mask, surgically sculpted to convey affluence, precision, and control. It’s not about reversing time. It’s about rewriting the rules of aging.”

Naderi describes the features as lifted eyebrows, sculpted cheekbones, defined jawlines, full lips, and smooth skin. The post also outlines two versions of the look. One involves carefully planned cosmetic surgery and ongoing treatments. The other is an exaggerated appearance that can result from excessive fillers, heavy Botox use or poor surgical results, according to Naderi.

The look also costs a lot. Experts said that these makeover costs start from $90,000. The cost goes then higher to $200,000 to $300,000 if people look for the top plastic surgeon.

What Lynn Wyatt was to Houston in the 60s and 70s, Susan Dell was that woman in Austin in the 90s and 2000s. Those sort of women are a major piece of what is missing from modern tech bros. They don’t have a grounding force that makes them look decent and less weird.”

She also pointed out the situation as, “tragic in a way though, because women are simply not allowed to age and once something is botched, it becomes even more difficult to fix.”
